This two-day course will provide the FTO Manager or Coordinator with the skills necessary to properly and professionally manage a field training unit.
This course is designed to assist agencies in developing and managing a successful FTO program. Created specifically to address the needs of the FTO manager, this class will focus Field Training Supervisor either with experience training and evaluating FTOs or the brand new program manager assigned to supervise the FTO unit. This course speaks directly to managers in the fields of Patrol, Corrections, and Communications.
Going beyond the basics of Field Training, this two-day course will provide insight on the various concepts and methodologies surrounding the idea of managing an FTO program.
- How can the FTO or the unit manager have influence over program productivity and efficiency?
- In what way can the FTO improve upon his own performance?
- How crucial is the culture of your FTO program to department-wide ethics?
- How can you tie up loose ends in the realm of liability to avoid costly law suites?
Day 2 of this advanced class will offer answers to these questions and give the student a glimpse into managing the FTO and the FTO program.
This 18 hour class covers such topics as Generational Leadership, Standardizing Evaluation Guidelines, Adult Learning, and Ethics. Each block of study is directed at the Field Training Manager, and ways to improve their work product and approach to today’s Officer In Training. Information includes motivating different generations of trainees, career survival for the FTO, and case law review pertaining to evaluations.
Minimum class size 20 paid students
